Our recent Ofsted inspection

We are delighted with the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection and I am pleased to attach a copy of the report.

You will probably be aware that when the school was last inspected, in November 2011 as Kirkby Sports College, it was placed in Special Measures which is the worst judgement a school can receive. This inspection has moved Kirkby High School up by two grades to Requires Improvement which is a fantastic achievement in a relatively short space of time.

The inspection has confirmed the great strides of improvement our school has made over the last two years since we became Kirkby High School in September 2013. For example,

“The Headteacher, managers and governors, well supported by the Trust, are leading improvement in the school exceptionally well so previously low standards are rapidly improving.”

“Staff and students share the higher aspirations that are now part of the ethos of the school.”

“The overriding school value is respect for themselves and others.”

“The school is orderly and students treat each other and adults with consideration.”

I would encourage you to read the full report, which under the current Ofsted framework, I believe shows excellent progress towards our goal of “Outstanding”. I also wish to thank parents who completed Parent View as part of the Ofsted inspection.

Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at school.

Yours sincerely,

W.M. Leyland
