Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st May we welcomed back ex pupil and British Karate champion 2014 Cameron Graham. He was met by School Leaders who interviewed him for the newsletter before delivering an assembly to Years 9 & 7.
What was your favourite subject at school?
“My favourite subject was history. Mr Campbell made the lessons fun and interesting and I really enjoyed learning about the past”.
Who was your favourite teacher?
“My favourite teacher was Mr Harvey because he is really fun and we got on really well, and well, because he’s Mr Harvey!”
What do you do now?
“I work for Jaguar car manufacturers, it’s a great job”.
What’s been your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement has to be being picked to fight for our country, winning medals, becoming British champion and being ranked 9th in the world. I waited 12 years to win something!”
What advice would you give to pupils who are studying for their GCSEs?
Put in lots of hard work early on and don’t waste time. Respect teachers, they will guide you through coursework and exams. Good luck and don’t get too stressed out, go into your exams relaxed and confident and always think positively”.
If you could go back to school again, what would you do differently?
“I would have put more hard work in during year 9 so that I wasn’t as stressed in year 11 as this was a really hard time for me. I would have revised more and not sat back, I’d say to everyone Aim High”.
